The output PDF is a re-rendered image-based copy — text is not selectable. Your password and file never leave your browser. For searchable text output, use a desktop tool.

How PDF password removal works

The tool uses pdf-lib to decrypt the PDF in browser memory using the password you provide. It then copies all pages into a new, unencrypted PDF document and downloads it. The original file on your device is not modified.

User password vs. owner password

A user password (open password) is required to open the PDF at all. An owner password controls editing, printing, and copying permissions. This tool removes the user password. If your PDF has print/copy restrictions but no open password, those restrictions may not be fully removable through this browser-based tool.

Privacy and security

Your PDF and password are processed entirely in your browser's JavaScript engine. No data is sent to any server. Once you close the tab, nothing is retained in memory or storage.
