Transparent PNG areas are filled with a white background when converting to JPG. All processing happens in your browser — no uploads.

When should you convert PNG to JPG?

Convert PNG to JPG when you need to reduce file size for web delivery, email attachments, or storage. Photographic PNGs are often 3–10× larger than equivalent JPEGs. If your PNG doesn't require transparency and contains photographic content, JPG is the right format.

Choosing the right quality level

  • 90–100% — Near-lossless, minimal file size reduction. Use for print or archiving.
  • 75–89% — The sweet spot for web use. Visually identical to the original for most images.
  • 60–74% — Noticeably smaller. Artifacts may be visible on close inspection. Good for thumbnails.
  • Below 60% — Significant artifacts. Only use for very small previews.

Transparency and white backgrounds

JPEG does not support alpha transparency. When you convert a PNG with a transparent background, this tool fills the transparency with white. If you need a different background color — such as black for dark UIs — edit your PNG first using an image editor to replace the transparent areas before converting.
