How to split group expenses fairly

Add all group members, then log each expense with who paid. The calculator tracks running balances for everyone — who's owed money and who owes. Equal vs custom splits

• Equal split: The expense is divided evenly among all group members. Best for shared meals, accommodation, and group activities where everyone benefits equally.
• Custom split ($): Enter a specific dollar amount for each person. Use this when people had different items (itemized restaurant bills), different room sizes, or opted out of certain activities.

Tips for splitting group expenses

• Log expenses as they happen — it's much easier than reconstructing a week of receipts at the end.
• Designate one person per expense category (e.g., one person covers all restaurants, another covers accommodation) to minimize the number of transactions.
• Use the custom split for restaurant bills where people ordered different amounts — this is fairer than always dividing equally.
• Settle up before the trip ends while everyone's together — it avoids the awkward follow-up later.
